Celebrating 175 Years
“Let no unkind thought be formulated within this house, let no word that stings be spoken here; may hatred and injustice be barred, may it be an inspiration to those who seek spiritual exaltation, and may those upon whom the hand of death has been heavily laid, find comfort here.”
-Rabbi Louis D. Mendoza, 1918
Throughout our 175-year history, social action and social justice have been an integral part of the spiritual mission of Ohef Sholom Temple. On this weekend, when we honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Cantor Jen Rueben, Chuck Woodward, and the Ohef Sholom Temple Choir will be joined by Sister Angie Carree, Worship Director, and the Faith Deliverance Christian Ensemble of the Faith Deliverance Christian Center for an afternoon of music exploring our shared pursuit of a world which fulfills Dr. King’s dream of unity and freedom for all of God’s children.
This concert is the culminating event of our celebration of Ohef Sholom Temple’s 175th Anniversary and is presented in partnership with Hands United Building Bridges (HUBB), Tidewater’s interfaith clergy dialogue initiative.
